Lately we have been having a ton of folks show interest in Large Frame ARs (308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 260 Rem, 243 Win, etc.) Although AR-15 parts are pretty standard the Large Frame AR world is complex. The most common receiver type is the SR-25 / LR308 type or DPMS equivalent. Other variants are Rock River and Armalite. With the latest advancements made by DPMS in their Generation 2 models it almost makes no sense to buy any other Large Frame AR. DPMS Generation 2 have undergone significant weight reductions along with the addition of the high-pressure bolt and reduced circumference firing pin. dpms-gii.com/full.html#configurationsNearly every Generation 2 model has observed a two pound decrease when compared to its predecessor. Unless you hoping to build something extremely purpose built you just can't beat the new DPMS Rifles.
