A lot of you have been asking about different precision rifle options. Stick with 308 and stick with what works. Buying something not mainstream or exotic means that you will have to work harder than you need to. Feel free to email back and ask questions. Understand that my answers won’t change much. I am a firm believer in Rem 700s. I like love Leopold and Nighforce to death. They cost a lot more than some of you want to spend, below are some more inexpensive scope options.
Here are the two I recommend.
Remington 700 SPS Tactical 20”
This gun just under $800 and is a great way to get in the game cheap. This rifle has a 20” barrel and really likes Fed 168r GMM.

Remington 700 XCR Tactical Long Range 26”
This rifle runs just under $1300. It is a fluted stainless barrel coated with Trinyte. This rifle also has a free floating B&C OD stock. This rifle is a bit more but every added feature is common sense and reasonable. You wouldn’t be able to piece this gun together for less.

There are other brands but I recommend you start with a Rem 700. It has tons of parts support, common to work on and easy to sell used.
Here are some scope options.
Trijicon Accupower 4-16x 50mm Green MOA
This scope comes in at just about $800 and is an insane value. Anything cheaper makes no sense at all. This is everything the accupoint has but the turrets and fiber.

Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x 50mm Green MIL
This is the best value scope for long range tactical shooting period. Built in illumination (no batt), target turrets and clarity thought entire zoom range. Everyone who has this scope loves it.

Nikon M-308 4-16x 42mm BDC 800
Priced just over $500 this is the most inexpensive scope I would buy. No illum, target turrets and a 308 BDC all in a 1” tube.
