I'm looking to pick up a 1911, 9mm in the near future. Question. Is it possible to have the mag release installed on the right side?

Mike, First off I think you really want the Range OFFICER not the commander. The Commander is a 4" gun vs the Officer's 5", so longer sight distance, heavier slide, better recoil system. Really NO benefit to the short gun for what we do.
As far as an off side mag release, there are some products out there, like the cylinder and slide product, but I have not seen one in person, and if I recall, you are right handed, so you would just be using this to make up for the reach, correct? Any ambi mag release is going to be right in the way of a standard right handed grip and I do not think it would work. You probably just need to use the same solution that most guys in your circumstances use, the big paddle that reaches towards the back, and make whatever's needed compromised shifting of your hand when you reload.
